High School Transcript Placement

Recent graduates and some current students may be eligible to use high school transcripts for placement in math and English courses, and as prerequisites for other courses.

Students who believe they are eligible for transcript placement based on the information below, submit unofficial high school transcripts to the Career & Advising Center at beadvised@greenriver.edu, Assessment & Testing Center at assessment@greenriver.edu, or to the Running Start Office at runningstart@greenriver.edu for evaluation.

English Course Placement

Placement by Cumulative GPA:

Students who have graduated from high school located in one of the 50 United States, within the last five (5) years with a cumulative Grade Point Average (CUM GPA) of 2.5 or higher are eligible for ENGL&101.

During Green River registration for Summer and Fall quarters, graduating seniors can send an unofficial high school transcript and fourth quarter progress report for all enrolled classes for evaluation.

Placement by Course Grade:

Students who have graduated from high school within the last two (2) years, or are a Running Start student, from one of the following school districts, may be eligible for placement based on their most recent English course grade.

Math Course Placement

Students who have graduated within the last five (5) years or are a Running Start student, from one of the following school districts, may be eligible for placement based on a math course grade.

Students who are within one month of completing a math course at their high school during registration for the next Green River quarter, may be able to use an unofficial transcript and current progress report for placement.

Other Course Placement

Some courses require evidence of completion of certain subjects in High School for eligibility. For example some Chemistry course requirements can be fulfilled with high school math, science and/or English courses. Also placement into higher level language classes may be obtained with high school transcripts.
