Originally from the Islands of Fiji, Shweta moved here when she was 1. She has her Bachelor's in Business Management from UW Tacoma and her Master's in Education with a specialization in Social Emotional Learning from UW Tacoma as well. While at UW Tacoma, Shweta worked with the Student Transitions department as a Peer Advisor and in the Student Life department as the Identity and Culture Coordinator for the Student Activities Board. It was during this time she felt she found her calling for working in higher education. Shweta is passionate about social justice, equity, and access, so you may see her at varying Green River Diversity Equity Council (GDEC) events.
In her spare time, Shweta loves to watch true crime documentaries, read mystery thriller books, or spend time with her Shih Tzu/Jack Russell Terrier puppy, Elaichi. Her favorite food is hot wings, particularly from Wingstop!
Shweta is passionate about working in TRiO because of her commitment to retention, completion, equity, and access, especially because she was also a low-income and first-generation college student. Shweta is the advisor/educational planner for the TRiO STEM students!
